Burlap Birdies

Welcome back everybody!

So, on FaceBook I belong to a few special groups one being a Junk Journal Junkies. In this group there are swaps and this is a journal I made for one that will happen in September. Yes, I am an overachiever! I may add some goodies as we get closer, but mostly I love to leave a lot of open space in my journals to actually use them as journals! Crazy I know right?

This is my burlap birdie junk journal. I plan on using this for the My Life in Pictures swap. I have to add 10 pics of my life and add thru-out the journal. Our swaps are one on one swaps.

The inside is the same as my other one, using s smaller envelope to create a multi pocket system.

This glassine bag was made from a Stampin Up metal die. I also made a dangle charm to add to this paper clip.

I created a mini flip style book to add under this belly band. I also found out that using an inkjet printer your digital images will run if you dip them into coffee. So, to get around that problem I spray my pages with coffee making sure to keep the coffee away from my digi's. Works well!

I added a lot of machine stitching in this journal like I do for all of my journals. Love my machine!

Here's another one of the parchment papers I had baked on. You can write on these pages with markers and some pens, or you can glue memorabilia to the page.

More goodness. I made this journal and the other mailing envelope journal kinda in tandem so they do look a lot alike. But I love how they turned out!

You make me smile

Howdy again!

I'm back with another journal. This was the 2nd (or 3rd) journal I made using an shipping envelope.

This journal, unlike my others is actually permanently sewn into the spine with a 3 hole pamphlet stitch. My others have been stitched together with a pamphlet stitch, but I utilized the Midori style stitched cover.

I used a smaller envelope folded on the inside to create a pocket system on the inside front cover. So right off the bat there are 4 different tuck spots to hide all kinds of notes or memorabilia.

Here you can see the ticket. I make my own using dollar store file folders. I generally cut them down to size 1st, then I will dip them into the old coffee and bake them dry. I like to add fabric, fibers, sewing and stamping to all my journals. It's too fun not to!

Here's a great shot of the coffee stained papers. I used copier paper and pattern paper to stain and bake. I've always read that people bake their papers for hours on low. Not me! I don't have time for that mess - LOL. I bake at 350 degrees. I use only one layer and I do not leave the oven! I stand right there are constantly peek in at the papers.

I don't know about you, but I tend to keep all those pesky return mailing envelopes that come inside everything. I sealed it half way up, turned it upside down and sliced the bottom open. Why you ask?? To create a large pocket and one little tuck spot shown above. BTW, I crocheted the little flower you see here too. I may not be able to crochet tiny little flowers (dang it) but I can do them down to about the size of a quarter.

I used the parchment paper that I bake on either inside the journals as pages OR I make my own "glassine" bags to add inside as a wonderful element. I mean, who doesn't like a crispy glassine bag?? I know I do! 😄 Until next time!

Journals all around ~

Hello again my friends. Here's to share with you some more fun journals. I've fallen HARD for "fauxdori's" and junk journals and am having a hard time walking away from the craft table! I have made sooo many travel notebooks and inserts and now have no less than 5 separate ones goin' all at the same time for totally different things!

Here are 4 of the 1st faux fabricdori's I ever made. I use these everyday! I use one for a day/monthly planner, one to record special quotes or thoughts to use later in art journals or as cross stitch pieces. The last two are a special project and life path I am on. 💓

Here's the 1st mailing envelope junk journal I made. I use it each night to write about my day. For this one, I took the marketing off a beer box and rand it thru my Xyron machine to create the large stickers. I love this journal. All the papers are crispy, baked, coffee stained goodness! I am addicted to baking my papers! I love the way they sound when done.

I have made and sent one to my daughter who lives in Virginia. It's for her as she is blazes her path in the world too. Please forgive the background. It's my cutting mat and I already mailed it so I cannot make better pics...

So, anyway, here's a little taste of a few of my journals. I will be loading up more of my little projects to share in just a few days.  Happy day!

Scribble Me ~ Fight the Filthy Fly Month

No! You guys! It's my last Public Service Announcement of behalf of Scribbles Designs! How sad, I know. And, yes, June has been National Fight the Filthy Fly Month!  I just know how much you will miss my announcements. Maybe I'll add some in from time to time for the fun of it.

I have really enjoyed my time as a Guest Design Team Member for Scribbles Designs. And today I want to  show you that digital images can be used in so many different ways. I have always been a scrap booker and recently started using my Fauxdori planner. I have used my stamps on these projects in the past, but I have to share with you digital images are the bomb!

This is a journal pocket I made for scrapbook page for our recent family picnic we went on. I loved all these PERFECT Scribbles Designs. And since this month we are required to fight those filthy flies, this is great! The mason jar is an image I already had and I added Scribbles flies to the inside! Whats fun is that I will use this same idea and call them fireflies when we go camping!

These are the journal card inserts. I added ribbons as a pull and a pair of sunglasses charm I've has FOR-EVEH for fun! I added Wink of Stella to the sunflower and Gelly Roll glitter pen to the mosquito's wings. I thought briefly about coloring his body red - but thought that might be tooo icky!

The back of this super fun suntan lotion images is a large journaling place too. I am a Coke a Cola addict and I have these pull tops around and decided it'd make a pretty cute little pull tab for the tag. The screw brad is from Hobby Lobby, I picked them up a few years back cuz my hubby is a kick ass race mechanic.

Above is what the pocket looks like with all the tags out. The sentiment is another Scribbles Designs that came with my frog set I showed you back on May 13th. I pulled out some old school eyelets to hold the pocket together ~ go me!

I used Hobby Lobby & Neenah card-stock, digital pattern papers and eyelets. Memento ink, twine, Copic markers, paper doily, ribbons, charms, brads, Wink of Stella and Jelly Roll pens from my (aging) stash.

Please take a quick moment to pop over to see the current challenge on the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. You could win some really awesome prizes if your project is chosen winner!!

Now I'm off to swat some filthy flies! Enjoy your summer day!

Halloween Junk Journal

I have been making junk journals lately and it's a wonderfully fun process! I come from a card making and scrapbooking background so junk journaling is a very freeing process. Halloween is my all time fav holiday and fall my fav season. This journal is 5.5 x 8.25". And it's almost 2.5" thick!

Ever heard of a Jack of All Trades, Master of None? Well, I've always said that's what I am. I dabble is all kinds of crafty endeavors and feel like I am not 100% for any of them. Here's a chunky charm I am for the journal / album. I also made the fabric tassel that you can sorta see to the right.

Below is the inside front cover and 1st page. The 1st page is a full size pocket with a journal card or a photo mat.

I used tons of fabric, sewing, bling, hand and digi stamping, embellishments, tuck spots and inserts. I added a lot of die cuts, embellished clips, ribbons and trim.

There are 33 papers, when folded make 66 pages to this journal. There are 8 photo mats with tons of other spaces for photos, daily memorabilia, journaling.

There are actually five 8" pockets journal cards, 3 beaded clips, 1 belly band with a 5" mini album insert. There are 18 different tuck spots, 32 various inserts and eight 3.25 x 4.5" photo mats.

I used Halloween themed cardstock, pattern papers, fabric and ribbon through out.

All the images are vintage and are either tag weight or backed with coffee stained papers. All the papers inside are coffee stained and baked so they are a wee bit crinkly crunchy ~ what a wonderful sound and feel!! I, for one, am addicted to baking paper!

I am selling this journal. I have an outta focus video flip thru Youtube. I will be re-shooting the vid and will update this link when I do. Lemme know if I can pack this up for 'ya!

Scribble Me - Strike a Pose

I have to tell a little story about my sweet, loving 21 year old daughter. The other day I was doing some much needed computer file maintenance and I "re-found" a ton of selfies of my daughter and pics of her and her friends. I do mean A TON of selfies. Some were really funny as she was making all different kinds of faces. I can remember doing the same, only for my generation it was in front of the mirror! lol  I guess it's just the generation, or maybe the availability of cell phones. I'd hate to think our kids are total narcissists.

I guess I need to tell my daughter all about her holiday - yep - June 21st is National Selfie Day!! LMAO I decided to pick a few of really cute animals to may homage to "Sissy." Of course they can all be found at Scribbles Designs. This card will be for a little added inspiration for the Scribble Design Challenge Blog. You should check out the challenge. Maybe it'll give you joy when you realize my time for telling you about weird, obscure holidays is almost over. You know you're gonna miss it! =)

Promise me you'll work with me here, but I tried to make these little images look like they were taken with a Polaroid camera. I would say I'm showing my age, but heck they've updated the instamatic camera and have it back on the market!! I used: Neenah & Stampin Up cardstock, metals dies and my paper trimmer to layer the images with black. I with my Copics adding Wink of Stella. I created the sentiment in word and added a camera image I found for free on the internet. Speaking of free - all three of these cute animals are Friday Freebies at Scribbles Designs!! Easy Peasy. Think I'll send it to my kiddo.
